Why You Need Your Own Website

Trying to conduct any kind of business on the internet without a website is like trying to live without oxygen. You won't be around very long. Your website is what counts. It's your business card, your store front, your classified ad. It's who you are! The image of your site alone will tell people what kind of business you run. If your site is not updated, most likely your products or services are a little out dated. Perception is key.

A lot of affiliate programs or MLM net works that one can sign up for come with a website. These websites are called "cookie cutter" sites. It's because everyone gets the same site. The only thing with these sites that may differ is the name of the site owner.

You see, with 1000 members out there that would mean that there would be 1000 websites out there. And do you know what? All those 1000 websites are all just like yours. So when I go to a search engine and type in BRAND X program, do I come to your site? If not your site, then whose site? Most likely it's one of the top dogs of the program. Now I must admitt, I have been to some sites where the company is fair and uses a randomizer for those who wish to sign up. But that is not always the case.
So now you have a bit of an issue. And that is how do you get people to come to YOUR site?

The easiest and simplest way is a gateway or doorway page. Some even call them landing pages.
These are descriptive pages of HTML text that are submitted to the search engines and that are also pointed via links to your cookie cutter website.
If you are really serious about making a go of it on the net, this is going to be a must. You either do this or you get a HUGE advertising budget and spend it there. Simple as that.

Now most people are involved in more than 1 program. So here is the best solution.
1. Get your own domain name.

2. Buy the most affordable hosting pack you can find.

3. Build a single page for each program using good keywording and good text explaining your program and submitting that to the search engines.

4. With the new rules being set out by Google it is only going to get tougher for those with a single page so you will want to have a small muliple page site.

This is what it all boils down to. If you want to make money you got to show up for work. If you want to make a business grow you got to DO the work. For those who do this extra bit,the rewards will be that much greater. There are always going to be those who will not want the hassel or small cost involved with having a small site of their own. These folks will simply fall by the way side.
The internet is only getting bigger by the day, so the sooner you act, the sooner you get to the top.

The other reason I am suggesting for each to be building a small website is that search engines will start to penalize single page sites. They simply will not index them. That is why Google now wants everyone who has a site to have their own XML sitemap submitted.
