In order to make any sales you need hits or traffic to your website. Plain and simple. Now there are a lot of ways to get that traffic. You can post free ads on Adland like I use to do. They would allow you to post 3 free ads a day. If you are dedicated and do this everyday you will soon have a lot of ads floating around Adland being read. And believe me they do get read.
But if you were to advertise in the newspaper it would cost you money and the readship is quite small, so why not pay to advertise on the net. Set a budget and work within that budget each month. I did on Adland with the gold member pack for around $25 per month. With this pack I could post unlimited ads everyday. I started out by posting 20-30 ads each day. Soon I had over 1000 ads floating around Adland. Everyday I would get about 100-150 plus clicks on these ads going to various websites of mine and was making 5-6 dollars a day just in Google Ad revenue alone. Well that alone is close to $200 per month which is like $2400 per year. All for the simple cost of $25 per month. Remember the rule of thumb for Click Thru Rate (CTR). The CTR is average 1.5%. So for every 100 visitors you get you should see 1-2 clicks on ads, or whatever it is that you are marketing.
